  • Pattern Cutter

    The individual needs to be based in Somerset but not essential. Please only apply if you can work straight away.

    This is a freelance role for one project, but if successful it could progress to more contracts in the very near future.

    Responsibilities

    The Pattern Cutter needs to create a pattern based on a designers drawing / idea. They will need to be able to produce a pattern for a variety of accessories but most specifically bags and purses. The pattern will need to be produced to a high standard to be part of the Tech Pack for our UK manufacturer.

    This is a freelance role, short term but to start immediately for a fast turn around.

    Tasks include:

    Interpreting given sewn product design briefs

    Drafting prototype patterns

    Reviewing and assessing the product samples/ patterns with the designer

    Creating the final master pattern ready for production & tech pack

    Qualifications

    Some form of relevant training/ qualification is required, such as a Level 3 Award, Certificate, Diploma, HNC or foundation degree in pattern cutting fashion or garment technology.

    Needs to understand working in a sustainable way and had experience of upcycling

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Quick thinker and excellent problem solver

    This job is ideal for the individual who likes to work from home in a time to suit, but the applicant needs to be aware that the work needs to be delivered promptly once delivered.

    Please note: this is a freelance role so bare in mind that the different projects may have little gaps between the jobs. But this will improve once we get started.

    Responsibilities

    Fast and precise sewing work desired for a small creative sustainable company based in Somerset

    Assistant to the designer providing quality sewing machine work

    Neat hand finished work only to the highest standard

    Recieving and shipping the work via prepaid courier promptly

    Expected to invoice after each project ends and quality has been checked

    Qualities Required

    Must be adaptable to the different projects provided

    High standard of sewing

    Previous experience of working on upcycled projects (ideally accessories)

    Excellent communicator

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Chloë Haywood London is an independent sustainable fashion studio and REWARDROBE is a costume recirculation business, both based in Somerset. This is a hands-on work experience opportunity for anyone passionate about fashion, sustainability and the creative industries — offering real insight into the day-to-day running of two exciting businesses at the forefront of circular fashion.

    Responsibilities

    • Assisting with the preparation and packing of wholesale orders

    • Sorting, labelling and organising fabric offcuts and materials

    • Supporting with stock management and product presentation

    • Assisting with the making and finishing of upcycled products

    • Learning basic hand-sewing and visible mending techniques

    • General studio support and upkeep

    Qualities Required

    • A genuine interest in sustainable fashion, textiles or the creative industries

    • Enthusiastic, reliable and willing to get stuck in

    • Good attention to detail — particularly when labelling and organising stock

    • Comfortable working in a small, home studio environment

    • Creative and curious with a hands-on approach

    • No prior experience necessary — just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
